Every so often you come across a book you've never heard of by no one you know and it's AMAZING. Pleasant surprises are good. AN ISOLATED INCIDENT BY Susan R. Sloan is one of those pleasant surprises.

Well, maybe not so pleasant. This book is about how a small town implodes when the daughter of an affluent family turns up brutally murdered.

The story is full of twists and turns and evidence is given to steer you this way and that, and builds to a crescendo, and an EXPLOSIVE surprise ending.

The book was a lot of fun to read. It was tense at parts, and totally drew you in. The writing is spectacular. Plus there's the underlying social commentary about how an isolated incident in a small town can change EVERYTHING. Definitely worth reading, give it a shot!

With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of Iron Maiden 2011.

Bass player and founding member Steve Harris comments, “For The Final Frontier Tour, it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we’re always so overwhelmed by the fans’ reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration, we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. Mixing the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus' they have designed the 'Clitaurus'. It comes in pink, and the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it.

Rumor has it though, that it leaks transmission fluid once a month, and can be a real bitch to start in the morning! Some have reported that on cold winter mornings, when you really need it, you can't get it to turn over.

New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain, and horribly expensive to get rid of. Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price, but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel, and the curb weight typically increases with age. Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the trunk increases, but say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger.

This model is not expected to reach collector status. Most owners find it is best to lease one, and replace it each year.

The loggerhead sea turtle is an oceanic turtle distributed throughout the world. An adult weighs around 135 kilograms (300 lb), with the largest specimens weighing in at more than 454 kilograms (1,000 lb). The skin ranges from yellow to brown in color, and the shell is typically reddish-brown. Found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea, the loggerhead sea turtle spends most of its life in saltwater and estuarine habitats, with females briefly coming ashore to lay eggs. The loggerhead sea turtle has a low reproductive rate and a lifespan of 47–67 years. Omnivorous, the species feeds mainly on bottom dwelling invertebrates. Its large and powerful jaws serve as an effective tool in dismantling its prey. Loggerheads are considered an endangered species and are protected by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Turtle excluder devices (TEDs) have been implemented in efforts to reduce mortality by providing the turtle an escape route. Loss of suitable nesting beaches and the introduction of exotic predators has also taken a toll on loggerhead populations. Review Tuesday: Underworld: Awakening

You may or may not have known, but I'm a huge fan of Kate Beckinsale, especially her role as Selene from the Underworld movies. After her absence from the third movie in the series, she's back with a vengeance, literally.

UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING is the fourth installment in the franchise. The movie starts out discussing the purge. The immortal races of vampires and lycans have been discovered by mankind and is being systematically destroyed as a menace to common people. Selene and Michael are captured by the humans and kept in suspended animation for a dozen years. Then Selene was set free by the daughter she never knew she was even carrying.

The rest of the movie is a series of twist and turns until the TRUE menace is revealed. The special effects are pretty good. The gore reaches new heights. The villains are more evil than ever. It's pretty entertaining and action packed. My only real complaint is that it was too short, only one and a half hours.

Definitely worth seeing if you want to see action, horror and violence.

Scott Speedman did NOT return to play his role as Michael Corvin, the vampire / lycanthrope hybrid. They got a guy, who isn't even listed on IMDB, who looks pretty close yet different enough to make his screen presence very distracting. Luckily, there wasn't much of it.

They never explain where the name Eve for the hybrid child comes from. When asked, she said her name was test subject 2, so what gives?

The whole 3D thing wasn't necessary. I hardly noticed anything that warranted the treatment.

The movie is shockingly short. One hour and twenty eight minutes, ONLY. There was a lot of development that could've made the movie better had they lengthened it. However the movie works fine as it is.

A little more about the coven led by Thomas would've been nice. They made reference to members of the coven never seeing a Death Dealer before Selene. Why not???

For the horndogs, I think Kate Beckinsale accidentally lets a nip slip during her escape from the cryo chamber. Don't expect more. Not even a butt shot. Don't worry, she looks more amazing than ever.

How did the lycans develop the clout to orchestrate the great purge? It would've required infiltration into the government as well as huge resources that the lycans were never in possession of in the past.

The movie is left wide open as the portal to the second Underworld Trilogy.

The Progress of Disaster as an album is an exercise in healing. All songs were written after the untimely loss of nevereven's former bassist, Scott Shaeffer. It could loosely be regarded as a concept album, with every song dealing directly with death and renewal, with Remainder as it's brooding centerpiece.

Remainder is a narrative about one person's process in coping with suicide, not as the immediate victim of the act, but as the innocent bystander who has no choice but to be affected by the loss of loved ones taken by their very own hands.

The video is a reflection of this concept, starting out in a dark, dirty crawlspace giving the viewer a confined, stifling feeling...probably best and most memorably represented by the infamous plastic bag scene.

Throughout the video, the constant feeling of rising reflects a person's struggle in coming to grips with being the survivor of a suicidal act, the family, friend or acquaintance of the suicide victim...the remainder. The video's images of climbing stairs and ascending elevators portray this, as does the change in lighting, progressively getting brighter throughout the video. Every individual in the band is alone in the beginning and finding their own way to their destination at the top, culminating with the final (and only) full band shots in an open, bright room, with darkness still lurking in the corners.

Even though the song is one if nevereven's most radio friendly, the content found just beneath the surface within the lyrical content gives the listener much more than what they ever bargained for.

Review Tuesday: BRIDESMAIDS

Last year I heard nothing but praise about how funny the movie BRIDESMAIDS was, how brilliant Kristen Wiig was, and why hadn't I seen it yet?

With high praise like that, I finally made it my mission to watch it, and did with Mrs. Bax0jayz for New Year's, while in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

When Lillian (Maya Rudolph) asks her life-long friend Annie (Kristen Wiig) to be the maid of honor at her wedding, jealousy breaks out then all sorts of mayhem ensues which jeopardizes friendships and even the wedding!

This is a movie that shows how complex (and funny) female relationships can be, especially at such a crucial time as a wedding. Helen (Rose Byrne) is the future sister-in-law and goes berserk trying to out-do Annie in every way. The rivalry strains the entire wedding party and everything starts going down the drain.

It's all very clever and entertaining to watch. I think the biggest problem I had with this movie was the EXPECTATIONS. It happened again! I had a long line of people tell me how hilarious this movie was, and to me, it didn't live up to the hype. It was a fun movie, and entertaining, but it didn't live up to the high praise everyone had given it. At least to me.

Still funny. Still worth watching.
