Disturbed Asylum in-stores August 31st, tickets for UPROAR now on sale
Multi-Platinum hard rock band Disturbed have scored their highest chart entry position at Active Rock radio to date with the No. 5 bow of "Another Way To Die," the electrifying new single from their upcoming album Asylum. Review Tuesday: The Bourne Deception by Eric Van Lustbader
This is the seventh Jason Bourne novel. The first three were written by Robert Ludlum and the movies bear the names of those books. After the success of the movies there was a market for new Bourne adventures. The problem was that Ludlum passed away. So Eric Van Lustbader, a friend of Ludlum's, was asked to write new adventures. The Bourne Deception was last year's novel, and was Van Lustbader's fourth installment into the world of Jason Bourne.
The book takes place in modern times. Iran continues to thumb it's nose at the world over it's nuclear program when it appears that they shoot down an American airliner over Egypt. The rest of the book is about various intelligence forces trying to figure out who was really behind the attack and why.
This book really has several plot lines going along. Jason Bourne is hiding out in Bali after the events of the previous book. There is a power grab in Washington DC for control over the CIA. Intelligence agents from the US and Egypt work together to track the real culprits of the attack on the passenger plane. Private defense firms are battling it out for lucrative government contracts. The villain Arkadin who has shown up in a couple books so far is in the various conspiracies deep. There's just SO MUCH going on. But the problem is that I found most of the characters completely loathsome. Even Jason Bourne becomes a bore with his reflections into his own life and who he really is. Considering that Bourne served in Vietnam, which would place him in his 60s now, he gets along pretty well. He's faster, stronger, and smarter than his adversaries. Also he manages to survive a sniper shot to the heart because he happens to have an odd shape to his blood pumper.
The characters have only gotten more cartoonish and completely unbelievable in this latest Jason Bourne novel. What's particularly aggravating is that these books make no sense in terms of continuity with the original books. He's a philosophical superweapon who can't remember anything. The ladies ALL love him, and the men feel he's too dangerous. It has just gotten burdensome and boring to keep reading these books. I can't stand anyone in the pages, and couldn't care less when key characters get killed off. And there was also an extra layer of trash tossed in as Jason Bourne is now the living encarnation of the God of Death, Shiva. ***Groan*** This is the worst book EVER. No wonder why it's taken me almost a year of picking it up and putting it down to finally finish it.

Alex Band's Solo Debut Released Today
After The Calling disbanded in 2005, the release of singer Alex Band's solo album We've All Been There has been a long time coming. With his record actually completed in 2007, a restructuring of his label left the release in limbo. Since then, Alex has spent the last few years regaining control of the master recordings and establishing his own label, AMB Records, partnering with EMI for distribution. "I've finally got creative control, which is the main reason I went through all of this," he says. "So now I'm starting completely over as a solo artist and reintroducing myself to the world." Today, he is proud to release his solo debut We've All Been There, featuring the hit single "Tonight."
Alex says of his album - which charts the course of a relationship from start to finish - "It’s definitely about my own struggle, but I think everyone can relate to what I’ve been through from experiences in their lives. I think everything I’m talking about on the record is pretty universal. And knowing now that I’m writing for different cultures, with fans around the world, it’s important that what I’m writing about is generalized enough that people can take the songs in their own way."

Fefe first burst onto the music scene in 2003 with her successful self-titled debut album, which included the hit singles "Take Me Away," "Everything," and the edgy synth smash "Don't Go (Girls and Boys)." Since then, she's lent her songwriting skills to artists like Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks and Selena Gomez, who all recorded Fefe's unreleased tracks on their own albums. Her comeback was cemented last year with "I Want You" and "Watch Me Move," a double dose of pop rock hits used in countless movies and TV shows.

Video: Lady Gaga Debuts New Song 'You And I'
After much talk about Lady Gaga's nearly completed follow-up album, the world got it's first taste of some new material from the pop superstar at her performance at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball last Thursday.
While seated at one of her signature deconstructed pianos, Gaga told the crowd: "This is a brand-new record that no one's ever heard before. And I've never, ever played it live, ever." Gaga goes on to describe the new song, titled "You and I," as "a bit of a rock n roll tune." Check out "You and I" in the video here.

Lady Gaga begins the summer North American leg of the nearly sold out Monster Ball tour today in Montreal, with support act Semi Precious Weapons who release their own debut album You Love You tomorrow.
