Origin: Fink emerged as a slang term in the US in the early 1900s. Its origin is unknown, but some etymologists cite the German word of the same spelling, which means "a frivolous or dissolute person," as a possible lexical ancestor.

 

Layout Bitching

• The act of users posting statuses on Facebook, bitching and moaning unnecessarily about new layouts.

Person A: "WHAT THE HELL FACEBOOK, Y U ALWAYS CHANGE LAYOUT?"

Person B: "Shut the hell up and stop layout bitching."

Turtle Thursday: The Family

Since yesterday was Silent Bob's 21st birthday, I am featuring a turtle family. When you have a pet, you rarely get to see the parents.

 

This is Lava, a female Dark Phased Texas Diamondback Terrapin.

 

This is Spike, a male Dark Phased Texas Diamondback Terrapin.

 

This is their "baby" Silent Bob, at about two years old.
Can you see the resemblance?

• Archaic . a giraffe. 

Origin: Camelopard is a portmanteau of the words camel and pard , an archaic term for a leopard or panther. It entered English in the late 1300s.

conspicuous consumer

• someone who purchases at locations for an underlying purpose of being seen. Buying the label not the look. Someone who walks around with a Starbucks cup; Someone wearing a shirt with a very obvious logo (i.e.: ENYCE)

Mark is such a conspicuous consumer, look at his shirt.

Turtle Thursday: Dot [2008]

This is one of our sadder stories. Above you see Dot, a red eared slider. She was very friendly, and demanded human contact. Unfortunately she couldn't get along with any of the other turtles. Her vicious ways nearly ended Dante's life. So we had to give Dot away. It broke our hearts, but it was for the greater good. Who knows what damage would've been dished out upon the others.
