Hogmanay \hog-muh-NEY\, noun:
  • a gift given on New Year's Eve.
proper noun:
  • New Year's Eve in Scotland.
Hogmanay is the name for Scottish New Year's Eve. It probably comes from the Old French aguillanneuf, "last day of the year."
New Year's Heaves
  • To "throw up" multiple times on New Year's Eve, typically caused from excessive drinking after the realization that it was yet another sucky year of life. This happens many times when people see their significant other kissing someone else on the "stroke of 12" during the Midnight hour.
If it wasn't for Bobby having the New Year's Heaves, we could have seen Dick Clark celebrate his 243rd straight New Year's broadcast.

Lovely! Wait...

What's Leo doing back there?

What I've been up to

New York, along with a good hunk of the East Coast of the US was blanketed by snow from a blizzard. They put it in these terms, "if it were warm weather, this would've been classified as a Category 3 Hurricane." Since it was cold we got it as snow. The 50 mph winds whipped the snow around in some very unusual ways. For instance, I had about four feet of snow at the end of my driveway, but none on my car at the other end.

Weird.

Here I am at work with the snow blower:

How can I gripe?

On DVD: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Dirty Rotten ScoundrelsYes. This IS an old movie. But it doesn't matter how old it is if you never saw it. I FINALLY got around to it and was glad I finally did.

In the movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Michael Caine and Steve Martin are teamed up as con men trying to take women for all they can.

In my opinion, just the presence of Steve Martin in a movie makes it funny, but team him up with Michael Caine, and Emperor Palpatine as the Butler and you have a WINNER in comedy.

I had many hardy laughs whilst watching this flick. I'd expect you would too. DEFINITELY worth owning this on DVD so you can watch it without interruptions from the comfort of your favorite chair.
