92.3 just sucks

When I first started working as an accountant the radio on my desk only brought in NYC's light music station. The entire thing was pre-recorded and on a loop. At the same time every day you can look forward to hearing the same song. You can set your watch by it.

It drove me mad.

So I went out and got myself a nice little box for my workstation. Strangely enough, from it's perch it really only brings in one station well, 92.3. That kinda sucked when the only thing worth listening to on the entire station was Howard Stern. What do I listen to from 10 - 5? Luckily they changed their vomitous dinosaur rock format to "new" rock. The idea was that they'd play all sorts of alternative rock, and also the other stuff you'd expect to hear on a rock station. From there they morphed through all sorts of various minor changes in that format, but all were listenable.

Until the turn of 2006 when 92.3 K-Rock became 92.3 Free FM. This all talk format is nothing more than a line up of bad Stern imitators and Z-Morning Zoo style radio. Penn Jillette is the only interesting person during the work day.

A friend of mine said that if you want to listen to music, you have to get satellite. I'm starting to think he's right because there's nothing left for free.

Free FM?
