Underworld: Evolution - Michael Corvin

Michael Corvin, played by Scott Speedman, is a long lost mortal descendant of Alexander Corvinus. His role in this tale is that his blood allows hybridization of both races of immortals: lycan and vampire, as he's from the original stock from which both were spawned over 1,600 years earlier.

Lucian hunts Michael down, in hopes of capturing some of Michael's blood so that Lucian can combine the bloodlines within himslef. In doing so Michael was bitten and made into a lycan himself. Later in Underworld, Kraven shoots Michael with bullets of silver nitrate. The only way to save Michael is by Selene, who is strangely and madly in love with this person she barely knows, biting him and releasing the vampiric spore into his blood. That created the first lycan-vampire hybrid to survive. (The first was the unborn child of Lucian and Sonja.)

In Evolution, Michael's role is a lot larger, but he still plays #2 to Selene. Essentially he follows her around, but being a hybrid, is able to hold his own. He has a couple good battles, and kills his share of bad guys with his bare hands, including the original lycan, William Corvinus.
