Underworld: Evolution - Tanis

Tanis, played by Steven Mackintosh, has a very interesting role. He's a banished vampire who was the coven historian. Since he was around long enough to know all the tale sand histories, he's of vital importance to Selene and Michael. He's the one who reveals the TRUE reason for the slaughter of Selene's family by Viktor...

***SPOILER ALERT*** Selene's father was commissioned to build dungeons for Viktor's castle with an extra special hidden nook to be used for the original lycanthrope, William Corvinus, brother of the vampire elder Marcus. Marcus was obsessed with setting his brother free from his bonds, but he was never told the location of the hidden tomb. To make sure Marcus would never find out, Viktor dispatched Selene's entire family.

The role of Tanis in the movie is fairly brief. After Selene and Michael leave him in search of Alexander Corvinus and the Cleaners, Marcus shows up for information as well. The only problem is that Marcus leaves no survivors when he gets what he needs.
