Did you ever take any formal lessons?
No. Probably should have though!
Follow up: I am very intrigued about you NOT having formal training? How did you pull that off? I know practice is key, but no guidance? That's startling!
Is it? I think there must be a lot of artists out there without formal training. I think in most cases formal training can stuff up someone's style. I have heard schools tend to weed out and stomp out individuality pretty quickly until every graduating student works exactly the same. I have always told people that art can't be taught, you are either born with the knowledge or not. Now needless to say, some have far greater instinct than others, some have to practice more (like me) but that is how the world is. We can't all be sopranos, after all then, what would make the sopranos stand outs if we could all do it? lol
Any words of wisdom for those with hopes of breaking into the art world?
DON'T DO IT! SAVE YOURSELF FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
I had my cat pee on it. The ultimate critic. He said his peace, who am I to judge?
What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. And more chocolate.
If you could have a conversation with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
DeVinci.
What has surprised you most in your career so far?
That I am still painting. I thought I would have grown out of it by now.
Any hobbies outside of art? Sports, etc?
I am a resin kit junkie. I loooove resin kits. Building, kit bashing, painting, chasing down the elusive grail. That's my sport. Oh yes.
What do you watch on tv?
I am totally addicted to Mad Men and True Blood at the moment.
It is a wide spectrum, from Pride and Prejudice, to Shawshank, to Sense and Sensibility, to Dangerous Liaisons, to Fifth Element.....
Read any good books lately?
A friend sent me Blade Runner recently. WAY better than the movie.
