Today is a national holiday in the United States. It's Columbus Day. It's the day we observe the discovering of the New World by Christopher Columbus. For many in the US it's an Italian Heritage Day but that always made me wonder. Columbus had to secure funding for his expedition from Spain because Italy blew him off. Should the Spanish celebrate their wisdom on backing Columbus instead?
