On CD: Teenage Dream by Katy Perry

Teenage DreamWhen I went on vacation a couple weeks ago I brought only ONE album with me: TEENAGE DREAM by KATY PERRY. I wanted to listen to it carefully because I don't get too many mainstream records to review and I figured I'd be with my wife who is more in tune with pop music so I could get her opinion as well.

We listened to Teenage Dream at least 10 times. We felt like we needed to and we came to the same conclusion. The album is good. It's good pop music. The best songs, however, were NOT the ones chosen to be the singles. We felt the weakest tracks WERE the ones chosen to be the singles. So, if you like what you've heard on the radio so far, you'd probably get a kick out of the rest of it.

Katy's distinct vocals really come through well in many of the tracks. I think Circle Around the Drain is the best example of her unique style and will likely become an anthem when she performs live, as long as it's not on TV as it's peppered with strong language.

All in all, it's a good pop album. Katy fans will be pleased. If you're into pop music, you'll like this too.

Oh, and the photography in the booklet and sleeves are insane! Katy is just STUNNING!
