Review Tuesday: The Fartiste

I got an email about shows in NYC on sale and joked with my wife about THE FARTISTE, and she went and bought tickets for my birthday!

THE FARTISTE is a musical based on the real life of Joseph Pujol. He had the unbelievable and unrefined ability to make music and sound effects through his ass. The show is a celebration of his life and career.

While sounding uncouth, the show, well, IS uncouth. Lots of fart jokes and other similar obscenities. Not to mention three very sexy and scantily clad show girls who happen to play about half of the characters in the show.

It's surprising, you wouldn't expect a show about a guy with a musical backside to be very thoughtful, but this show IS. It's clever and well made. It's not PHANTOM, but certainly entertaining on it's own. There's a cast of seven, but you have no problem following as the players move from one character to the next. You'll be mesmerized by the sound effects guy! He's BRILLIANT!

A very DIFFERENT kind of show if you enjoy some lowbrow humor.
