selcouth \SEL-kooth\, adjective:
  • Strange; uncommon.
Selcouth has odd Old English roots. It is related to the word seldom and the Old English word couth meaning "to know."
 
tranq (Short for tranquilizer.)
1. A sedative, or the act of sedating.
2. Any chemical substance used for calming a human or animal through injection or ingestion.

Quaff is of unknown origin.
 
libation \ly-BAY-shun\, noun:
  1. The act of pouring a liquid (usually wine) either on the ground or on a victim in sacrifice to some deity; also, the wine or liquid thus poured out.
  2. A beverage, especially an alcoholic beverage.
  3. An act or instance of drinking.
Libation is from Latin libatio, from libare, "to take a little from anything, to taste, to pour out as an offering."

St Patrick
  • A servant of God who was ordered to convert the snakes and drive out the Irish. Unfortunately like most of the Irish he was drunk and got it reversed.
St Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland is a myth. The Irish ate them all during a famine.
 
Saint Patrick's Day
  • A day when you gather around a keg of Guinness and drink [like there's no tomorrow].
