AQUAMAN
The child of a human man and Atlantean Queen must fight to prevent a war between the two worlds.
Like most people, I always thought that Aquaman was a lame superhero. He can swim fast, breath underwater, and talk to sea life. COMPLETELY USELESS OUT OF WATER, RIGHT? Well, this movie taught viewers otherwise.
The movie establishes his back story quickly and efficiently, as well as the story of Atlantis (in the DC Universe) and gets to the matter at hand in good time. Character development is done well. The whole >blub blub< underwater talk either gets phased out fast or you get used to it because it doesn't present a problem to follow dialogue. The cast is pretty good. The special effects are mostly quite good. There was one scene with Black Manta that seemed a little off, but it was brief.
The movie is nearly two and a half hours long but moves along at a good pace and you don't even notice the time. In fact, since I caught it as an in-flight movie, it made the trip seem faster as well. Winning!
I would say this movie easily surpassed my very low expectations and turned out to be quite enjoyable. Worth viewing in you were curious about how they put this one together and managed to make Aquaman cool. PLUS they even got him wearing the traditional orange costume! That's good for a chuckle for sure.
