Unfreedom of the Press
by Mark R. Levin
From six-time #1 New York Times bestselling author, FOX News star, and radio host Mark R. Levin comes a groundbreaking and enlightening book that shows how the great tradition of the American free press has degenerated into a standardless profession that has squandered the faith and trust of the American public, not through actions of government officials, but through its own abandonment of reportorial integrity and objective journalism.
In my youth my father always warned me to be careful with the news. "It's run by the liberal media," he would warn, "they don't tell you the news." So from my earliest years I learned to be skeptical of what the media would put out there. I would notice what stories they selected to relay while burying others. However, how many others knew about this?
Decades later Donald Trump is elected President on the United States of America and the media onslaught was brutal. This president did something different than any other Republican president, he called the press out and even coined the term, FAKE NEWS."
Apparently my father and President Trump weren't the only ones to notice the actions of the press. Mark Levin wrote UNFREEDOM OF THE PRESS, a 273 page book on how the press ended up in the position it is in today. He discusses the history of freedom of the press, how it's been abused by the press, and how the press has truly been abused by various administrations, however, curiously not the ones you'd expect.
This tome isn't some partisan hack job, nor is it some shallow opinion piece. It's an in-depth and annotated study on the press and how it has destroyed it's own credibility in this day and age. This is smart, clever, and powerful reading, while not being DIFFICULT to read at all. If you can get through this book without feeling outrage and / or disgust with the media after reading this book, you might want to re-read it.
