Review Tuesday: Fear The Walking Dead - Season 6

Fear the Walking Dead (season 6) - Wikipedia
Fear The Walking Dead
Season 6
After the events of season 5, Morgan moves to get the survivors back together and to take down Virginia only to face an even greater threat.
I don't know how a season of 16 episodes can feel like it went on forever and ever. So this is what went down after the big season five season finale.

Morgan managed to survive the Virginia's gunshot and is nursed back to health by Virginia's sister. It turns out she's really Virginia's DAUGHTER... and a sociopath.
Other highlights:
  • Daniel acts like he's losing his marbles, then actually does.
  • Strand does Strand things.
  • John and Jane head in different directions, to disastrous results.
  • All the rest of the main characters had largely bit roles.
  • A death cult is introduced who is a greater menace than anything previously experienced.
Despite all that going on, this season still managed to bore and drag along. How is it that a season of only 16 episodes still managed to have a slow and dull pace? The death cult angle was interesting for a minute until you found out how they were planning to end the world. Apparently a nuclear sub washed up on shore in Galveston, Texas, that had live warheads aboard. Of course one of the cultists came from that boat and was willing to initiate the sequence to launch the missiles. The bulk of the season was about these cultists trying to retrieve a launch key that Morgan had managed to come across. This could've been a very exciting story arc, except they bogged it down will all sorts of minutiae and garbage side stories that made the bulk of this season a yawn-fest.

At this point there is at least one more season confirmed for FTWD. I have a feeling the next seaosn will be dedicated the aftermath of teh warheads going off. Since Dakota was teh only character killed in the blast, the other survivors will need to find eachother. And that Allaince Group still has a role in all that's going on. Probably some tie-in with that teenage romance TWD show, The World Beyond, is forthcoming.
