Review Tuesday: Blood Red Sky (2021)

Blood Red Sky – Review | Netflix Vampire Horror | Heaven of Horror

BLOOD RED SKY
Airplane hijackers had everything planned except for a passenger being a vampire.
In the age of COVID-19, we are more likely to see films coming out of AMAZON and NETFLIX than on the silver screen. They know what their pay-off is, they work well with smaller budgets, and provide entertainment for people who don't feel like leaving the house. I had never heard of this movie from Netflix called BLOOD RED SKY but a friend knowing that I enjoy the vampire genre made the recommendation. Thanks Frank!

A woman and her son are flying from Europe to the USA for a blood transfusion. They are going to remove "the bad blood" and hopefully cure what ails her. Unfortunately that flight was targeted by hijackers motivated by crashing the stock market. While the hijackers are implementing their pan, they gun down the mother. That's when we learn she's a vampire and the movie turns into 30 DAYS OF NIGHT but in an airplane.

I found this movie pretty original and entertaining. If you like your horror films gory, this should suit you just fine. The movie goes into flashbacks showing her accidental origins into vampirism, so that question gets answered sufficiently. There is quite a bit of suspense. You do grow a bit tired of people running back and forth in a plane, but I suppose you have to allow for the limits of the situation. All in all, I had fun watching this right up to the surprise ending. Worth you time if blood-thirty vampires are your thing.
