Review Tuesday: A QUIET PLACE PART 2 [2021]

How to watch A Quiet Place Part II at home right now | What Hi-Fi?
A QUIET PLACE PART 2
A family tries to survive in a world that's been overrun by noise sensitive monsters.
This movie came out earlier this year, but we didn't bother getting around to see it until it was a recent in-flight movie. The movie picks up and, kinda, answers the question asked by people who saw the original:
  1. Where did these things come from?
  2. What happens now that a vulnerability has been found?
  3. My review of the original can be found HERE.
This sequel starts off as something of a prequel. It takes place about a year and a half before the events of the first movie. It shows how normal, everyday life came to an abrupt halt when these things showed up. All we were given, really, was a giant fireball descended from the sky. Shortly thereafter the creatures began their attack. Like I said, we know a little bit more, but not a while lot.

After the opening scene showing the "origin" of the monsters, it reverts to directly after the events of the first movie, and their adventure to find other survivors.

I found the movie to be thrilling and compelling. It was suspenseful and kept you at the edge of your seat. For me the most formidable flaw in the movie is how they make children the heroes and saviors of this story. I found myself grimacing through some scenes. Otherwise, it was a pretty good horror film.
