There was a vibration throughout the house. There was a mild rattling of the windows. Damned Daily News truck I thought to myself. He wakes me up as he drives by all the time.
Only it wasn't the Daily News truck and that wasn't today. That was the first "rare and unusual" New York earthquake I experienced during my life. It must've been the early 80s because by the mid-80s I was working with the guy driving that Daily News truck. On that day, however, the big news item went on about how homes shook from a minor earthquake in the NY area and most people probably slept through it. I would've slept through it today considering that I went to sleep around 7AM after another marathon night of working on tax returns. However, the wife acted like it was the end of the world running around the house screaming that it was an earthquake. Ah yeas, running on 3 hours of sleep will go every well today, I am sure....
