Review Tuesday: Final Destination 2 (2003)

Final Destination 2
(2003)
Another group of people on Long Island cheat death.
I was having a discussion about a meme with friends and the log scene from FINAL DESTINATION 2 came up. Admitting that I never saw this movie that one friend declared that we must!

A woman with a car full of friends about to embark on a road trip has a vision of a huge accident and everyone along the on-ramp behind her would be victims, including her and all her friends. She has a break down and blocks the ramps preventing the legendary log-drop scene from occurring to them. THEY CHEATED DEATH! Now DEATH was coming to claim what was rightfully hers! In addition, they all have ties to the deaths from the original film. So they get the sexy Clear Rivers (Ali Larter) out of self-imposed solitary confinement to help them out.

Honestly, for the most part, the cast of characters aren't very likeable so you don't really care when some of them get picked off. The fun is the misdirection, how the writing leads you to think one thing might lead to a death, but something else that's completely unexpected actually does.

The two films I have seen in this series are entertaining in their absurdity and suspense. There are all sorts of problems with the story if you dedicate any brain energy to it. That aside, it's a jump=scare horror movie. Take it for what it is and you should have fun.
