Godzilla x Kong:
The New Empire
2024
When Kong's domain is threatened, and ultimately the world, he has to go to Godzilla for help.
I had no idea that a new Godzilla v Kong movie was even planned, let alone came out earlier this year but it did. Of course when my friend, yes the usual friend, wanted to watch it, I couldn't resist.
After the events of Godzilla vs Kong, Godzilla is wrecking monsters on the surface while Kong lives a lonely existence within the planet. That is, until a "new" section of inner earth is exposed, unleashing an ancient menace.
I won't say much more about the plot. All I will say is that it's fun and well made. Is it a great movie? Not really. It has an odd selection of songs shoe-horned into strange places. The plot is iffy and there are some pretty goofy things in there. But the movie is nicely polished and is a lot of fun to watch. Let's be honest, no one watches a monster movie hoping that it is Oscar worthy. You want to see monsters destroying things and killing each other.
Bottom line: it's what you want in this sort of film and worth your time to watch its nearly two hour runtime.
