WTF Friday: Ripley's Bush

  

 

This is something that has always amused me. On the set filming ALIEN Sigourney Weaver let it be known that she had reservations about doing the "underwear scene" at the end. So, in some sort of an act of resistance she wore her underpants very low. The top of her butt-crack was exposed and her giant 70s bush was spilling over the top in front. Ridley Scott asked if she would pulls the panties up. She declined. He suggested that she trim it down. Again she declined. Wanting / needing this scene in the movie Scott filmed it as she performed it and had to "erase" the hair form each frame in editing. An iconic act of defiance that was worked around, but with cost.
