There are too many people under the belief that "preserving democracy" means removing the opposition, which is literally the opposite of democracy. (Not to mention that we have a republic not a democracy, but these people don't care about facts.) 

 

There are plenty of people who say things I don't like, but the first amendment protects people to say anything they like. I don't have to agree with it, but it's their right to say it. 

 

Cheering when an opposing view gets violently silenced is a disgrace and against everything this country was founded on. 

 

Let's not forget that the very FOUNDING of this nation was hotly debated and discussed and that's the way to do things. Resorting to violence shows a complete lack of being able to listen and accept that people will away have a variety of opinions. It's mature to accept that. It's tyranny to to put an end to it.
