Review Tuesday: Demonic (2015)

DEMONIC
2015
A detective investigates a crime-scene that had a similar incident years earlier.
On another movie night I asked Mrs. Bax0jayz to make a selection and this is what she came up with. Produced by James Wan, who is known for his other productions like the Conjuring and Insidious franchises, she felt it would be a good choice.

John (Justin Milligan) was having trouble dealing with his nightmares. His girlfriend Michelle (Cody Horn) had friends who were ghost chasers. They decided that John needed to confront his nightmares and go to the house that is featured, which also happens to be a former scene of multiple murder, and John's mom happened to be the only one to escape the killer.

So this group of youngsters travel to the house, set up cameras and equipment with the hope of getting something on film. They got more than they bargained for.

The movie is told mostly from the perspective of Detective Mark Lewis (Frank Grillo) and his girlfriend Dr Elizabeth Klein (Maria Bello) as they come onto the crime scene and try to figure out what happened, mostly through interviewing John.

The movie builds suspense and has the usual  / required horror jump-scares. It's very well made, nicely polished. The acting is pretty good. The ending has a several unexpected twists. So yeah, coming in at under 90 minutes, I felt it was time well spent.
