2005 should be a good year for new albums. At least for me it should be. Here’s a brief list of some items I’m looking out for:
Static-X
They put out consistently good albums but manage to get better with each recording. After Shadow Zone and B,B,&B I am expecting another good album. I’m curious where they’ll head this time.
Garbage
They take long breaks between records. Shirley Manson like to have breakdowns between records and then rediscovers herself in some other form. I could care less, as long as her angelic voice remains the same I’ll be happy with their fourth album.
Filter
Their last record didn’t have the impact on the radio here in as the two prior ones. They went in a harder direction and that’s where they are reported to be heading again. I’m looking forward to it.
System of a Down
These guys seem to be in the studio all the time!
I’ve been hearing one of the new songs on K-Rock in NY. It's called Cigarro. Sounds like the first album. Not a bad sound. I like it. They should have another winner on their hands.
NIN
Trent has a habit of pumping out albums of filler but with a couple really, really great songs on it. I hope this one breaks that trend and is a completely good record. I hate forwarding through songs.
And who knows what else will come out. For instance, the new Fiona Apple record was shelved by Sony Records. Let’s see if that ever shows up.
