Vanishing Acts in 2004

92.7 WLIR

Over the years it changed it's name a couple times as well as format, but it was essentially the station I liked best since my mid-teens. That's almost 20 years!

Earlier this year they decided to change their format in a major way: Latin Music.

So after all these years I hold little faith that good old WLIR will ever return.

Good bye, Malibu Sue and crew.

Oldsmobile

In April, 2004 the LAST Oldsmobile came off the assembly line. A 2004 Olds Alero signed by the entire factory staff rolled out of the factory and straight to the Olds Museum. Despite a history of great things like the various Cutlass', the 442 and the infamous Oldsmobile Rocket Engines, they are no longer. Not to mention that it was the OLDEST American Automotive name tag.

I've had a couple Olds' over the years, and my 1978 Buick is currently fitted with an Olds 307 V8 and I have an Olds 403 lined up to go in next. These aren't worldbeaters, but were fun to work on.

It's been a good run.
