Brooding

I find myself tighter in the clutches of despair with each day. But is the purpose of brooding so that the involved parties take notice? If that is so, what if those other parties aren't clever enough, or don't even care enough to take notice of this behaviour? What's the purpose of a cry for help that only falls on deaf ears?
