The tale of the UNbrella

Aren't umbrellas supposed to repel rain?

I have always been in the habit of keeping an umbrella in my car at all times for just in case. Well, just in case happened, so I unwrapped this brand new umbrella that was under the seat. After a short distance I noticed rain coimng down on me under the umbrella. I figured the wind was whipping the rain in all directions, so I didn't think anything of it.

I've used it several time since, with the same problem. I needed a closer look at this umbrella.

As it turns out, whatever they impregnate the fabric of umbrellas with, was missed on this one. In fact, this umbrella actually soaks up water, which leads to large drops coming down on me beneath it.

What makes the story worse is that I figured this out months ago, but keep using that same umbrella. I usually toss it in with my other umbrellas and forget about it. Somehow it's always the one I grab. So I walk off with my UNbrella and chuckle a little as I get wet from the rain.
