Movie Review: The Jacket

A couple months back we saw the trailor for The Jacket and decided that this movie CAN'T be good. But as opening day rolled around they touched up the commercials and other ads and made it look like a real horro movie. So with that, my wife and I decided to see it last Friday.

At that point the movie was already on it's way out of the theaters, it only had one showing at the usual theater we go to near Roosevelt Field, and two at the one we ended up going to on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. With one week in theaters and lackluster ticket sales don't expect to catch this one on the big screen for long.

The theater was about half full. The audience was pretty quiet. Essentially the movie is about this guy who died 3 times and how getting killed really screwed up his life. I can see how.

Basically this guy ends up in a hospital for the criminally insane because he was found guilty of killing a cop, that he didn't do, but couldn't remember what happened. In that hospital they used an experimental therapy on him that somehow he was able to project himself from the year 1992 to 2007. This movie is a crazy profound ride going back and forth from the future back through his life time. In the future he meets up with Keira Knightley who assists him in solving his own final death, and what was happening to him. Shockingly, Keira has several nude scenes. I can't say that they were necessary for the plot but were certainly fun to watch.

This is a profound and involved story. Take your trips to the bathroom before seeing this because if you miss a minute of the movie you'll probably get lost and never catch up again.

Original and enjoyable. If you walk in with a clear and open mind you will enjoy it too, especially the twist in the ending.
