Sadness

Since I got back from my client I've been feeling strange. I walked in to find a message that my Mother called. She rarely calls so I usually assume the worst.

She only needed some information regarding Social Security benefits. We spoke briefly and when she said her good-bye she also threw in a, "I love you," and I've been a mess since.

My family was never one of those families that throws around the word "love" lightly. In fact, I can only remember hearing my Mother say that to me once before in my life. And now the sadness sets in.
