Cinco de Mayo at El Mariachi

This was probably the biggest mistake ever. With all the Cinco de Mayo stuff in advertising and the news and stuff it gave my wife the great idea to go out for dinner...

...and have Mexican...

...at one of the most popular Mexican joints in Rockville Centre, El Mariachi.

Too bad the rest of the population of Rockville Centre had the same idea.

We get there. Parking was a disaster. Then we try to go into the place. The bar section is right by the front door, and was so packed with people that you couldn't get into the place. So we used our brains. We walked out and around to the rear entrance. Brilliant. That is until we got in to find the ENTIRE PLACE jammed packed. And we were told the wait was about one hour. We mulled it over. Usually they give you a timespan but it NEVER takes as long.

Usually.

One and a half hours after we got on the table list we were seated. In the meantime we had to endure the insane banter of drunken raving lunatics. Obnoxiousness levels were off the meter.

For instance, there was this group of "mature" (in age only) party people who were acting like complete fuktards. They insisted upon being in the way of the wait and bus staff the entire night. This one dude in a suit had an annoying nasally voice seemed to think he was the life of this pathetic mid-life-crisis party; gyrating, laughing, hooting, hollering, whistling, and being a complete attention whore.

So once we were seated we were free from all that crap. By the way, we were seated at about 9:30! Shit. I might've walked to Mexico in that time. We ordered our food and a half pitcher of red sangria. I didn't know they make it white too. Sangria comes from the root "sangre" which means blood. So where white blood comes from, I have no idea.

After another long wait the food finally hit the table. I must say that it probably was worth that terrible wait. Stacey had combo 3 and I had combo 5. What's in them exactly, I can't remember totally. I know we both had on our plates tacos, and rice and beans. I had a chili relleno, which is a chili pepper stuffed with cheese and fried. Everything was bursting with flavor, yet not from mass quantities of salt. I didn't have to get up to hydrate during my sleep like I have to when eating at some dumps.

By the time we left the place the festivities were dying down. We got home at about 11:00. Not so great when the next day is work and I get up at 6:20.
