On Friday night my wife and I went to visit a friend of hers named Melissa from the old neighborhood. She was one of my wife's girl's in the bridal party. They met when they worked at the Woolworth's in Sunnyside, even though they lived a block apart their entire lives.
So Melissa has, in the meantime, gotten married and had a child. Her husband, Carlos, is a very gifted jazz guitarist from Cuba. He speaks a little English, but is working on changing that. The baby, Axel, is about 3 months old now and looks very large for his age.
So Melissa cooked a traditional Cuban meal, which I cannot remember the name of to save my life, that was quite tasty. Carlos played a little guitar for us, as well as show us some clips from some gigs and TV shows he was on.
It was pretty fun, but the night ran late for the two accountants, as we were wiped out by a week of early morning and late nights. But we all plan on getting together again, maybe for a jam with Stacey's Dad...
