Album Review: Start A War by Static - X

The new Static-X endeavor came out a couple weeks ago. I've been busy with work so I haven't been able to post my thoughts on this release.

You have options on this album. You can buy the CD alone, or for an extra $4, or so, you can get a DVD with it. I opted for the CD / DVD set.

START A WAR
Disc: 1
  1. Enemy
  2. I'm the One
  3. Start a War
  4. Pieces
  5. Dirthouse
  6. Skinnyman
  7. Just in Case
  8. Set It Off
  9. I Want to F****** Break It
  10. Night Terrors
  11. Otsego Amigo
  12. My Damnation
  13. Brainfog
Disc: 2
  1. Bonus Material [DVD] [*]
  2. Live Performance Footage [DVD]
  3. Rehearsal Footage [DVD]
What can I say about Static X? They keep pumping out extraordinary records. These latest work falls in suit. Static X continues to "Keep Disco Evil" with their extra hard, but strangely danceable tunes. The album open right up with some heavy riffs and strong Wayne vocals. From there it's like a blend of Static over the years but with new flavor and vigor.

If you liked guitarist Tripp Eisen, well, he's gone. The man he replaced, Koichi has returned to the lineup. Whatever caused Tripp to bow out, I hope he's back on his feet again soon. Perhaps a future Static X lineup including TWO guitarists allowing Wayne to run around like Bruce Dickinson?

At any rate, the DVD is great. I love every minute of it. Even the hardcore techno evil disco of Brainfog. Great stuff!

The DVD is just plain fun. It shows them recording the new album. Some work. Some play. Some concert footage. Totally worth the few extra dollars it cost for the set.

I already have my tixxors for their show here in NYC on August 2nd. I'll review that one too!
