I've been a huge fan of the movie CLERKS for about 10 years. I missed it when it was in the theater. I might've even known it was out, but the concept -- a movie about a couple store clerks that's not even in color. If I did know about it, I definitely would've passed on it at the time.
However some time after I was hearing little things gear and there about it. Film students hailed it as brilliant. Anyone in retail praised it as outrageously funny.
So finally I rented it with my friend Patrick. The place we went to; the now-defunct Wizard Video of Francis Lewis Blvd in Bayside, Queens; even had a huge tag on the box: FUNNY! A RIOT! MUST SEE!
So we rented it.
We watched that movie and roared with laughter. I ran off a copy. Watched with my friend and coworker Jon the Gentle Blonde Giant. Working in a yogurt shop, we saw huge similarities in the way we "clerk" our shop. We died laughing. We brought over Arthur one night to watch it. He loved it too. My brother loved it. My girlfriend loved it. My brother loved it. Over the past decade that I've been passing around the word of CLERKS and Kevin Smith, I only came across one man who didn't care for it. My wife works with one socially inept dude who didn't understand a single joke in the entire film. Evidently this one person is a phuctard and thoroughly not worthy of such brilliant humor.
Anyway, last year Kevin Smith brought out a special anniversary edition of CLERKS called CLERKS X. I suppose x = 10. Not really a stretch, eh? LOLz. It's a three disc set with all sorts of extras. There's even extra scenes and stuff, and animation.
It's a very reasonably priced DVD, and well worth the money. I got it last year from my wife and have watched it at least 2 or 3 times since. It never loses t3h funny. It was a riot a decade ago, it's a riot now. Last night I laughed my dumb-ass off while watching it and I intend to continue doing so for the foreseeable future.
