Queen of the Damned

While in the Bahamas I endured that hateful book by Anne Rice, The Queen of the Damned.
Hateful might be a bit harsh. The book did have some good parts, and there was a feeling of accomplishment when all the nonsense of the opening chapters are tied in together.
However...
It was entirely too verbose. Something that could've been described in a few sentences to get the point across was, instead, documented over several pages.
Then right when you think something will come of it, the book has the most ridiculous revelation. Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, has decided that she's returned to animation to create peace on Earth as a deity. Her course for peace is via wiping out the male population of the world. Well, she would allow one male per 100 women to live. How benevolent.
Just a total crock.
And the tale of the twins. A bore.
And the ending? Anticlimactic. The Queen had to die, but it was so quick and cliche. It just served to make me hate the book more.
But what's worse than the book?
THE MOVIE!
I just watched it. Crap of the lowest order. It had some interesting things, and might've been good if I was able to separate what I already knew from the Vampire Chronicles, but I couldn't. I think I was more compelled to watch to hear the music and maybe to spy the late Aaliyah's sweet spread. A shame that woman is gone, but she looked too perfect for this world. But what's up with the dark skinned vampire? Odd choice. Like that one movie with George Hamilton. It's just not right.
Well, Queen of the Damned was a double disappointment. Save yourself.
