My wife and I have been talking about seeing this movie, March Of The Penguins, for a while now. The problem was that it was being played on a limited run and only a handful of theaters in Manhattan had it. Finally a couple weeks ago it opened "wide" and was being played near my home.
March of the Penguins is a documentary about the annual journey made by Empreror penguins to and from their breeding grounds. It encompasses a span of nine months of the year, the time dedicated to creating the next generation of penguins.
Over the course of 60+ minutes of this movie, you get the see the march, the pairing up, etc, etc. What's amazing is the EMOTION that these animals display. How they care for eachother. How much they care about their egg and chick. You see them in misery if they lose their egg or chick to the cold. The emotion. It's really quite a shock.
And that are such regal and majestic animals and it's truly inspiring to see into their complex lives.
Morgan Freeman narrates delightfully. A bunch of French dudes did an amazing job filming it.
I highly recommend it to everyone. It's beauty on film. It's rated G, so it's perfect for all audiences.
