Tragedy along the Gulf

Yesterday morning it seemed that mankind had triumphed over Mother Nature. A category five hurricane, Katrina, had lost a bit of her punch when she hit another system as she was headed up to New Orleans. She was knocked down to a cat 4 instead and blew over a little, sparing New Orleans a direct blow. After she passed by many of the cities thought they were in the clear. However, after the storm passed the flooding continued. In New Orleans two levies broke down and flooded the city. Some areas are under 20 feet of water right now. The numbers of dead are ever increasing. They are working in third world country like conditions in attempts to save lives.

I'm very sad over this. My thoughts and prayers are with the all the people in that region who are suffering and struggling through this disaster.

I'll have no other entries today.
