We planted a stick in the backyard years ago when we first got the house. This stick would grow over the coming year and become a cute little peach tree.
Last year we first saw fruit on the tree, but the harvest was pitiful. We didn't get a single peach off the tree.
This year the tree was ready! It was bigger and was covered with blossoms in the spring. Last weekend we plucked all that was left on the tree. They were "tree-ripened" ready to eat. And what a harvest this year. Sweet and juicy. We gave away sacks of them over the last couple weeks. We think the tree yielded about 5 dozen peaches this year.
With that in mind, a song of the day:
PEACHES
by the Presidents of United States of America
by the Presidents of United States of America
Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat me a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country,
Gonna eat a lot of peaches
Peaches come from a can,
They were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way,
I'd eat peaches every day
Sun-soakin' bulges in the shade
Took a little nap where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
And dreamed about you, woman,
I poked my finger down inside
Make a little room for an ant to hide
Nature's candy in my hand or can or a pie
Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free
Look out!
