I finally finished book six in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles: The Vampire Armand.
This book was a terrible chore to read for the most part. This is Anne Rice at her worst. Too much of this tale is nothing more than far too detailed gay erotica.
Then it gets a little confusing as the main character changes names THREE times! Armand starts off as ARMAND, then Amadeo, then Andrei, then back to Amadeo, finally to Armand.
The subplot about Armand's love of God and religion was very compelling. But the man-on-man love ruins it. And the absurd infatuation Armand feels for two mortal children who are entirely too advanced for their ages makes the story that much harder to read.
I thought that Queen Of The Damned was bad, but this one discovered a new low.
For shame, Anne Rice, for putting together a tale with good characters and rendering it disaster. Pointless. Flogging a dead horse.
Save yourself. Skip this waste of paper.

Agree totally.
Few years ago, I became an Anne Rice near-fan after reading a few of the early books (girlfriend at the time provided them).
Well, Lordy, the Armand book just killed the franchise dead for me, It's soooo self indulgent and bollocks-laiden that it defies description. I didn't finish it, never will and will never read Anne Rice again.
That feels better!
