On DVD: View from the Top

It was my wife's idea to rent this one. After seeing Christina Applegate in Sweet Charity she wanted to see what other endeavors she's been in since Married With Children.

On that list was View from the Top. I remembered seeing it in the video store and since it was on the list I picked it up for a look.

Gwyneth Paltrow is really the star of this movie, Applegate is supporting, but still an important character. The concept of the movie is that a girl from some nowhere backwater town is looking for something better in life. She sees an interview with a stewardess, played by Candace Bergen, that gives Gwyneth the push in the right direction. From there it's about three stewardesses trying to get out of a crappy local airline and into a big international one. There's some girls behaving badly. Some romance. And a lot of sexy ladies in hot outfits. There's even a part in the film that the girls are all in bikinis and I was hard pressed to figure out who looked best, Paltrow or Applegate.

The romance angle didn't overwhelm the movie at all. For the most part it was fairly lighthearted and easy to watch.

So there's something for the girls and the guys to see in this movie. It's not bad.
