BEER ALERT! 01/11/2006

This is straight from my email box:

Special Events:

Greetings: Maybe you are thinking about the upcoming Superbowl. Its another good reason to party if nothing else. OK, we New Yorkers are justifiably a little let down by our Giants, but hey, there is always next season. The real issue is, since we are going to be watching the Super Bowl anyway, where should we do it?
Our recommendations:
1. Hop Devil Grill
  • Big Screen TVs
  • The "BEST" Buffalo hot wings in NYC! Other excellent munchies. Like Devilish Eggs?
  • Great game, so drink great beer! HGD has an insane selection of the very best
  • Conveniently located at 129 St. Marks Place, near the L train, the F train and the 6
  • $40 gets you unlimited top selection craft beer during the big game. Wings included! Come early for the tailgate party to guarantee seating! Don't like great beer? We have all the other stuff too!
2. David Copperfield's
  • Big Screen TVs
  • Excellent football grub all around
  • famous beer selection from Samuel Adams Lager to Anderson Valley Winter Solstice
  • Joe and Frannie behind the bar serving up the pints
  • Upper East Side location away from all the hassles. 74th Street and York Avenue

The Hop Devil has something going on almost every day of the week to keep you from spending too much time in the kitchen and spending too much money. Oh yeah, don't forget those great beers.

  • Cheap Chili Sundays! $5 a bowl, South-West White Bean Chicken Chili, Wild Willy's Wicked Chili or the best tasting Vegetarian Chili you ever slapped between yer lips.
  • Monday is 25¢ hot wing night. Jumbo wings, nice and crispy to go with a pint of malty lager. You can get out for less than $10, fat and happy! Oh yeah, Hop Devil's sister bar, The Belgian Room right next door has Mussels from Brussels. $5 a pot while they last. Try 'em steamed in Hoegaarden sauce. Yummy!
  • Taco Tuesday! $1 tacos all night. Chicken, beef or veggie. Tacos are Awesome!
  • Kill the keg Wednesdays! Help put a keg out of its misery. Beer changes weekly. $3 per pint all night long, craft beer.

Quite Frankly, there is more coming up. Really! We just don't want to over-pack these alerts with too much information. But just as a heads up, Thomas Hooker, formerly known as the Troutbrook Brewery, is coming to David Copperfield's to do a very special first time ever NYC event and they will be hauling in some of their best beers. Keep in mind that these guys are widely considered to be one of the best breweries in the world. We can't confirm the lineup yet, but Joe V., the bartender at David Copperfield's, is warning us its going to be incredible. We can't yet announce the date, it isn't quite firmed up yet as the brewer, who will be attending, is currently on vacation. Weyerbacher, however, is locked in for February 15th at Hop Devil Grill. That lineup is dangerous! Make sure you show up in time to gather hats and t-shirts if you love Insanity oak-aged barleywine! Familiar with what its like in the Bear Republic? We hear its hoppy all the time. February 22nd at Hop Devil Grill, expect Racer X and some other fast cars to arrive in style. That'll be an event to remember! Magic Hat night coming up . . . See you next time with the details.
