A lot of people started to ask a lot of questions when they saw that Viktor was going to appear in Underworld: Evolution despite having his head split in half in the first movie. Since then it's been explained time and again that Viktor isn't resurrected in the sequel, but appears in flashback scenes. It appears that they intend to establish some more background in this movie and it should be pretty interesting. You see some cool pics of Viktor in medieval armor with the Death Dealers in some sort of battle. Viktor was a good bad guy and I only hope they are able to create another vicious foe for the second installment.
As the story goes, Viktor of Moldavia is one of three Vampire Elders. The ancient ruler started off as a warlord before he joined the ranks of the undead. I've never seen an explanation regarding how that happened previously, but this movie explains it...
Even though Selene states to Michael in the first movie that Viktor was the oldest of all the vampires, he's not. Marcus is the son of the first immortal. (Remember what Singe the lycan scientist said?) Due to certain circumstances, to be discussed in another post, Marcus brought Viktor and his troops (which would become the original Death Dealers) over to the world of the undead for assistance. More to come....
Viktor is played byBill Nighy, who has quite an impressive resume on IMDB:
http://imdb.com/name/nm0631490/
