The NYPD plans to add new muscle to their ranks. To don the NYPD blues will be the new Dodge Charger.
After a nearly twenty year absence from the ranks of the NYPD motor pool, since the end of the Dodge Diplomat and all their rear wheel drive cars in 1987, Mopar will be making a comeback. Planned will be the addition of 10 Chargers: 5 unmarked cars with 5.7 liter V-8s, and 5 cruisers in NYPD colors with 6 cylinder engines.
Dodge has been preparing Chargers and Magnums for police fleets and you might see them in your rearview mirror sometime soon. Hopefully NOT with the lights flashing!
