On DVD: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Will Ferrell appears to be the new Adam Sandler. By that I mean "the funniest man alive" who managed to escape from Saturday Night Live and actually have a successful career. That's no mean task as it seems that SNL seems to suck the life completely out of many comedians who vanish from the face of the Earth after their tenure.

But back to Anchorman. How can anyone possibly write a movie about a news anchorman from the 1970's and make it FUNNY no less. Somehow, Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay did it.

Don't let the beginning spook you. That's when Ferrell does that stupid Scotch bit. After that it's all uphill. There's a great staff. Lot's of really funny jokes and scenes to make you guffaw.

This is my favorite scene in the movie when Ron Burgandy (Ferrell) and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) have a verbal battle:

Ron Burgundy: You are a smelly pirate hooker!
Veronica Corningstone: You look like a blueberry!
Ron Burgundy: Why don't you go back to your home on Whore Island!
Veronica Corningstone: Well you... have bad hair!

How can you go wrong with great writing like that?

A really good time squeezed into and hour and a half. Check it out!
