Stacey really did it this time. She worked her auction magic and snared a "night on the town" for a mere pittance. Boy was I proud of this one! She scored "dinner and a show" from skyauction for less than a hundie. Good girl!
First the dinner: San Martin, located at 143 East 49th Street, New York, NY. That's right. We didn't go to my favorite Vita's, so I wasn't able to tell jokes about being intimate with my wife's old college buddy. That was fine. This place was great. It's a combination Italian / American restaurant. By American, they serve some nice steaks and other goodies off the grill. So we got steaks, sangria, desserts and I topped it off with Irish Coffee. Mmm. Whiskey. We enjoyed everything we ordered and the service was perfect.
From there we took a stroll to the theater. It was a little bit of a hike, but a nice one. Nice weather and wonderful architecture along the way were always a delight to behold.
The show, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS at the Imperial Theatre, 249 West 45th Street, New York, NY. The tickets -- Stacey scored orchestra seats, nicely located. Good work!
The show was DELIGHTFUL. Every aspect was great. The cast was charming. The story was fun, the acting / singing / choreography were all perfect. I was looking forward to seeing John Lithgow, but he left the show months ago. Jonathan Pryce was splendid. Norbert Leo Butz was fantastic. Everyone else, too, was lovable. The show ended at about 10:45, longer than most shows, but it just sped right by. An absolute joy.
Then we went home by limo. A perfect end for the evening.
I highly recommend ANY of these stops for an evening in New York City.
