In the cinema: 16 Blocks

Well, I broke another one of my rules a couple weeks ago. My "No Bruce Willis" rule, that is. The wife and I had NO IDEA what to see in the movies and the only one that was playing at an opportune time was 16 BLOCKS. We heard it was quite good, so we went for it.

The concept of the movie: a old worn out cop has to transport a man sixteen blocks from the precinct house to the courthouses so he may testify against some bad cops. Along the way they have to avoid these bad cops at all costs. The twist, Jack Mosley (played by Willis) happens to be one of the crooked cops.

It's nearly two hours of drama, thrill, and action that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and at wit's end. There are a couple ridiculous parts, you'll know it, the whole bus thing. And Eddie Bunker, played by Mos Def, is more annoying than running your nails down a chalkboard. Strangely, it makes him endearing and human, and you care about him.

By now I'm sure it's long gone from the movie theaters, but if it's out and you can't think of anything you'd like to see more, this one won't disappoint you. I'm sure it'll be out on DVD soon as well, so you can catch it that way.
