In the theater: Hot Feet

This was a real spur of the moment thing. A friend of Stacey's came by Saturday morning and offered us tickets for HOT FEET that same night. Well, it IS a brand new show, so how can we decline? Plus it was still in previews at the time.

The show is at the Hilton Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street - the heart of Times Square. It's easy to get to from any public transportation, but if you drive in, it can be difficult and costly.

Curtain was at 8:00 and the show clocks in at two hours, and twenty minutes.

The show started to a projection of red shoes on the curtain and the excitingly tight orchestra. When the curtains finally open, the stage is stormed by an army of dancers in elaborate costumes. This will be going on for the entire show.

Before I go any further, I should let you know that HOT FEET is tribute to Earth, Wind, and Fire and the music is prominent throughout.

On to the actual show. It's a LOT of singing and dancing and dancing and a little bit of story to keep it all together. I'll say here that I found the show very entertaining, so I will give very little of the story to you at all. I'll just say that everyone performed their role well and the 2.33 hours of show flew by.

Well performed singing and dancing, a stage full of beautiful people, and there was a Moog in the orchestra; now that's a recipe for a great show in my book. However, I already read another review for the show saying that it wasn't very good and only gave it ONE STAR. Well, I wouldn't say it was that bad at all. In fact, many of the characters are VERY charismatic and draw you in. The Devil, the child and Kali are all magnificent and hold your attention. But I guess to each their own.

If you have a chance to see it, I think it's worthwhile. With bad reviews rolling in, it might not be around for long.
