Protect yourself against phishing

Possibly the worse form of spam email is PHISHING. That's when you get a fraudulent email seemingly from some legitimate institution, it's it's really bogus and a trap to get your valuable information. Usually they are trying to nab your passwords, account numbers, social security number, etc.

Needless to day, you should never click on ANY of the link in any of those emails. If you want to verify anything, you should open up a new window in your favorite browser and check on the alleged problem. They ALWAYS claim that there is a problem.

Now, the most common phishing attempts are for EBAY, and PAYPAL. In which cases, just forward them directly to their investigating departments:

For ebay, forward to spoof@ebay.com
For Paypal, forward to spoof@paypal.com

and they will take care of it all.

For all other types of phishing, forward the email to:
spam@uce.gov
and let the authorities take care of it for you.
