In the cinema: The Break-Up

We had gone to the theater a couple weeks ago. I know I had a lot of things to attend to the next day so I didn't want to be in the theater too late. The only movie that fit into our schedule was The Break-Up, starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn.

It's been around a while, so you probably have heard about it ad nauseum and there is no need to really go through it so much.

In a nut shell, a couple get in a fight, half-heartedly break-up, commence a pissing contest, sell off their home together, realize that this was probably a huge mistake, but it's too late to do anything about it.

In the end, after they've been apart for about a year or so, the two meet up on a sidewalk. Exchange pleasantries, and go about their separate lives. Ta-da! The end. Lights come on, and the crowd is bewildered. "That's the ending?" I heard several people say in a near chorus. Yeah! Finally a REAL LIFE ENDING, not a happy ending, not a Hollywood ending, and real life ending. That's why I think so many people didn't care for this movie; it didn't contain that fairy-tale closure that life rarely, if ever, gets to attain. Otherwise, why else would people not like it? It was funny. Jennifer Aniston was clever and super hot. Vince Vaughn is funny in a way only he knows.

And that's it. Two people, supposedly in "misery" with eachother go their own way; to see if the grass truly is greener on the other side or if they had paradise within their grasp and failed to see it. That's real life. And that made it a great movie for me.

Check it out before it's gone.

And have a look at other movie info on IMDB:
