West Hempstead Water Advisory Still in Effect

WEST HEMPSTEAD, Long Island -- As of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the water advisory for West Hempstead-Hempstead Gardens Water District customers was still in effect according to the Nassau County Health Department.

On Tuesday, customers were told not to drink the water because the additive chemical MTBE was found in the water system.

The wells that contained MTBE were taken off line and the system was being flushed.
