We went for a little road trip over the extended weekend. It seems a lot went on, and here's a couple of the biggies...
Space Shuttle Launches Safely
After the space shuttle disaster, the program has been running into many problems. Literally, they can't get off the ground. That is, until yesterday, on a nice Fourth of July morning, the shuttle had a picture perfect launch. Mostly. They are a little concerned about some foam that came off during launch. They're expecting nothing to come of it.
North Korea Launches Missiles
In a defiant gesture, North Korea launched a test missile with range capabilities that can reach parts of the United States. Well, if it can make it beyond 35 seconds, which this missile DID NOT. It was a failure, and now that country is under close scrutiny for this provocative maneuver.
American Soldiers commit the unthinkable
A group of American soldiers killed a family and raped their daughter, a woman they'd been eyeing during guard duty. If found guilty, the punishment will be death!
Superman tops the Box Office
The new Supes movie did well, but couldn't touch Spiderman's record. They are expecting the movie to face even more trouble with Pirates of the Caribbean opening this Friday.
NJ shuts downs Casinos
New Jersey's brand new Governor is determined to raise the state sales tax by 1%. He's going toe to toe with the state legislature which are all fellow democrats. Since they won't give in to his demand, he, Gov Corzine, is shutting down government offices, which includes the casino regulators. With that, the casinos were all shut down. Great job, gov.
